PERMITS AND ESCORT FOR OVERSIZED AND HEAVY TRANSPORTS

 

The road permits and escort for oversized transports are significant part of every one logistic price for abnormal transport. USEFUL INFORMATION:

In Bulgaria the permits for oversize and/ or heavy transports are issued by Agency “Road Infrastructure” and they are valid for an exact (individual) transport with noted plate numbers of the truck/trailer, overall dimensions and precisely fixed route. The validity of the permit is within 30 days of the issued date.

When is needed a permit for oversize transport?
In case that at least one of the overall dimensions exceeds: 
Truck with a semi-trailer(2+3 or 3+2 axles) L х W х H/ W– 16,50х 2,55 х 4,00m/ 40 to Truck with trailer(2+3 or 3+2 axles) Lх W х H/ W – 18,75 х 2,55 х 4,00m / 40 to

Payment only of a road fee – directlyat the entrance border until Overall dimensions LхW х H/ W – 22,00х 3,30 х 4,30m/ 45 to Escort is not required.

In case that vehicles exceed even one of the above dimensions, it is required a special permit, issued by the Agency ‘’Road Infrastructure”. It is possible permits to be issued for 1, 3 or 5 working days and of course the one for 5 days is with the fewesttaxes.

Escort car is required when one of the overall dimensions exceeds: L x W x H/ W – 24,00 x 3,50 x 4,70 m/ 60 to.

The oversized transport is forbidden in the following cases:

• Lower visibility under 50 meters because of a fog, heavy rain or snowfall
• Slippery roads
• In the dark side of the day and in the hours with maximum intensity of traffic

Allowed speed for oversize or heavy vehicles:

• 70 km/ h – on the highways
• 50 km/h - on the national roads
• 40 km/h – in the cities
• 40km/h – with a pilot car
